As the
troops Allied troops
were being evacuated
from Dunkirk, there was
only one intact division
in England, ready to
resist the German
onslaught and that was
the Canadian division.
The Germans however
still had to overcome
the resistance of the
RAF and win control of
the skies before they
could launch their
seaborne invasion of
England. Start in London
in those heady days on
1940 as the Battle of
Britain tightened into a
life and death struggle.
Slowly the German threat
receded and a raid was
mounted in 1942 at
Dieppe to test the
formidable Atlantic wall
with questionable
results. Finally by 1944
with the Russians
pressuring from the east
and the Americans
alongside the British
Empire in Italy and
England, the great day
arrived - d-day. Visit
and relive those sites
and days as we travel
from London to France
and tour Dunkirk,
Dieppe, the Normandy
Beaches and return
across the channel to
Portsmouth and London |
