Medieval Europe was a
continent which had
reached a balance in
social status and
encouraged constant
warfare. The great
invasion by William the
Conqueror had remade
England by displacing
the Angles, Saxons and
Vikings with the Normans
from France.
Harold's defeat united
Normandy and England but
also set the stage for
centuries of conflict
between France and
England over the vast
majority of France.
Crecy and Agincourt
resound through the ages
from their glorious
history, unexpected
outcome and the material
they provided for such
great writers as
Shakespeare in Henry the
V.
We
will visit the great
sites of the age, relive
some of the great events
and travel back in time
to an age where Knights,
dynastic struggles and
chivalry were the order
of the day.
We have
designed this tour to
cover the most famous
battles of the early and
mid-medieval period.
Inevitably, geographical
factors are such that
early starts are needed
on occasion, but we have
balanced these with free
time for sightseeing,
shopping or general
relaxation. |
